...is a very special district within North Capitol Hill, containing about 80 residences and several lovely open spaces. It is a unique preservation area, listed on the National Register of Historic Places - the only such residential neighborhood listing in the city of Seattle.

Its combination of urban almost pastoral qualities—the tree-lined streets, several open vistas and wood ravines to the northwest—along with some outstanding residential architecture, make for an area of exceptional character that is still very much an inner-city neighborhood accessible to downtown, schools, churches, and a lively shopping district.

Originally developed 100 years ago for the City's wealthy and elite, the area's elegant mansions and manicured gardens are now protected from demolition.

For many years, the neighborhood has been a feature on architectural walking tours, and now Harvard and Highland's specific location has received a rating of 86 ("Very Walkable") from the national website, WalkScore.com.
